Our Beliefs

St. George’s St. Baptist Church is a member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and subscribes to the Union’s Declaration of Principle, this being;

That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Holy Scripture, and that each church has liberty, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to administer His laws.

That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water into the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit, of those who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who “died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again on the third day”.

That it is the duty of every disciple to bear personal witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to take part in the evangelisation of the world.

Our Vision Statement

We believe that God’s vision for St. George’s St. Baptist Church is to be a living, growing body of His people, having a unity of purpose, drawing people to a personal faith in Jesus Christ through their witness expressed by the strength of their love for one another and their commitment to prayer and worship. We believe God’s will for us is to express this vision by focusing on the local community in relation to our activities, our building and our organization.

Our Management

Although a member of the Baptist Union, we are as a church independent of any central body, and decisions concerning the running of the church, are made by the Church Members, through Church Meetings. The Members elect deacons, who have responsibility for the day to day activities and function of the church.
